Nordic Entertainment Group to leverage metadata with Clipsource
Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has hired mediatech provider Clipsource, to organize and amplify distribution of linear metadata and press information across all Nordic countries. The new system and workflow has a higher level of automation and supports a metadata model that structures the data in ways the old system could not, pawing the way for better and richer metadata at a lower cost.
NENT Group is the Nordic region's leading provider of audiovisual entertainment. They reach millions of people every day through their streaming services, TV channels and radio stations. As for most media companies, accommodating rich metadata has become increasingly important to NENT Group, not only to maintain internal control, but also to upgrade marketing and communication activities.
“Some say metadata is the new gold. True or not, but fact is that broadcasters in the last few years have experienced a growing demand for more qualified and accurate metadata, in order to serve both internal and external users”, says Johan Wiklund, CEO of Clipsource.
Clipsource was hired to replace NENT Group’s proprietary press system and make sure accurate and rich linear metadata could flow seamlessly between NENT's press and EPG portals.
The result of the project is that NENT now has a modern press system with support for multiple countries and languages, functions for scheduling multi-national sport channels, automated distribution of linear schedules and marketing metadata in legacy format as well as new formats with room for additional metadata. The system is also responsible for distribution of validated metadata to the NENT internal EPG-service as well as NENT’s graphic system. Last, but not least the press departments have a new Press Room designed to support the next generation of media relations.
The new platform was launched in August, and the successful collaboration will continue with more functions around the linear workflow.
“Clipsource is very easy to work with and willing to adapt quickly to changing requirements. They are also open to developing their product based on our feedback, not only through custom development paid by NENT, but also through roadmap development, benefiting all their customers”, says Urban Löfbom, Senior Project Manager NENT Group.
