Discovery Germany launches Media Center from Clipsource

20 February 2020 - Last updated 11 June 2024

Media Network Discovery Germany launched a new Media Centre today, provided by media tech experts Clipsource. The new service gives journalists and partners significantly better access to information, schedules, screeners, images and videos about Discovery’s programs. “The new media center will be an integral part of our media strategy”, says Timo Ditschkowski, Communications & PR Manager, Discovery Germany.

Stockholm-based Clipsource is a supplier of digital media centres to TV companies such as Discovery, Nent, Warner, Sony, HBO and TV4. As media consumption becomes more digital, the need to publish rich information about the programs increases. The more videos, images and metadata that are offered for each episode, the easier it is for consumers to find and understand the content. This is true for linear television but even more so for streaming services, where search engines and content discovery platforms are dependent on information availability.

“Processing and distributing press releases, program information and corresponding metadata has always been a primarily manual, time-consuming process for us. Therefore, we were looking for an agile solution to serve all stakeholders in our eco-system. Luckily we found that Discovery Nordics had been working successfully with Clipsource for years and that we could plug-in to that solution. The new media center allows us to push more content and metadata, with higher quality and easier accessibility, to a much broader range of recipients”, says Timo Ditschkowski, Communications & PR Manager, Discovery.

The delivery to Discovery Germany includes:

·     A system for collection and merging of data from various internal systems into one coherent metadata structure and sharing process for all Discovery channels and programs,

·     A new solution for automated distribution of schedules and marketing metadata to external parties.

·     A new “made for TV” Press Room for next-generation media relations, including secure screeners, media list management, press release distribution event management etc.

·      Clipsource has been streamlining workflows for media companies since 2010. By automating the collection and distribution of media and metadata, all marketing and communications teams can reduce time wasted on logistics and focus on the activities that really create value.

Ola Scholander, Chief Commercial Officer at Clipsource, says:

“We are very proud to launch with Discovery Germany and look forward to giving their teams super-smooth workflows, helping them reach their business goals. They will have full access to our platform, to which we constantly íntroduce new capabilities and features”.

Discovery Germany hosts the free-to-air TV channels DMAX, TLC, Eurosport 1 and HOME & GARDEN TV, as well as the pay-TV channels Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Eurosport 2.
