Viaplay partners with Clipsource for content communication across Europe and the US

21 September 2022 - Last updated 11 June 2024

Viaplay has chosen the PR and communication platform Clipsource to support its content communications across local markets in Europe and the US. The agreement makes it easier for the local Viaplay businesses to publish and share news, images, videos, schedules and metadata information to a broad range of stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to increase awareness of Viaplay’s award-winning content and to help consumers find their favourite programs.

Stockholm-based Clipsource is a supplier of media technology to leading entertainment companies throughout Europe. The collaboration with Viaplay has so far comprised the Nordic countries. The new agreement extends this partnership to also include the US, UK, Poland, Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The Clipsource platform is designed to help media companies, such as Viaplay, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony etc, streamline the distribution of media and metadata to people and platforms, internally and externally. As the competition for eyeballs intensifies, the need to distribute rich information about the programs increases. The more information, videos and images that are offered for each episode, the easier it is for consumers to find and consume the content.

Anna Munkenberg, Acting CMO, at Viaplay Group says:

"Clipsource has been a valuable partner to Viaplay in the Nordics for many years. Now that we are expanding internationally, they are the first choice to support us in this next chapter. Clipsource’s platform provides obvious synergies in creating and sharing content and data across multiple markets. This helps us scale fast and build brand awareness locally.

Dan Willstrand, CEO of Clipsource says:

“We are very proud that Viaplay has invited us to empower their content communication across all markets. Their ambitious goals and impressive performance have inspired us to invent new products that can help them execute on their plans”

Clipsource’s delivery to Viaplay includes:

A Digital Asset Management system called “Program Catalog”, integrated with Viaplay’s own media and metadata systems. “Program Catalog” organises all content down to episode level and simplifies fast sharing of rich and accurate program information to a variety of internal and external users.

Scheduling tools for crowdsourced planning of all sports channels, allowing local planners to reuse content created in other markets.

A Media Center for next-generation media relations, including secure screeners, clip distribution, image database, press release creation and distribution, media list management, API access to linear and non-linear schedules, event management, etc.

Clipsource's platform is used by some of the world's largest TV and streaming brands and the company currently serves customers in 17 countries. As content supply in streaming increases, so does the need to promote new content.

Dan Willstrand, says:

“Research shows that consumers spend up to an hour per day searching for something to watch. Making it easier for people to find your content is obviously a key success factor in attracting viewers and subscribers.”
